Back to School

Jordan participated in planning a retreat for our homeschool group.  Jared also volunteered for the event.  Student Council and his other SVLA class have been valuable for him this year.  Love our classic first day  photos.  Great kids!  Walking all the kids on their first day to Southland was a big deal for me!  This year has been different for sure.  Maren is the only kid home with me most days and she loves to have neighbor friends over while mom works on projects.  Decluttering and home repairs were the first things I worked on.  We had a huge rainstorm the first week of school and the kids walked home to a flooded mini-park around the corner from our house.  With several feet of standing water, everyone got their swim suits on and canoes out.  We've had a little flooding before and since, but this was a fun and crazy memory.  Leisel started dance classes and was excited to choose modern dance and ballet.  Maren really wanted to do it too, but after a few weeks of apprehension she had to give up on the idea till spring.  Jonathan lost his first tooth and hasn't stopped since. :)  Michael went to the Homecoming type dance with Kelln.  Tessa is a champion this year and being up early and ready for school.  She usually walks with a neighbor every morning.  The elementary held it's annual fundraiser and tries to make it fun for the kids with a Jogathon.  Maren and I volunteered and supported them.  Each of the elementary kids received a student of the week award for their amazingness within the first month of school.  We are proud of them.  I enjoyed visiting a replica of an ancient Israelite tabernacle with the family.  It was sponsored by a local denomination.  I'm very excited to study the old testament next year.  The last goofy pics are from Jordan's student council mentor and from a temple trip.  They do lots of great activities and Jordan's personality is really shining through this year.  We are grateful for all the good opportunities and associations we are blessed with.

Last flings of Summer

Susie planned another amazing Clark family activity.  This year it was a carnival and showing of their original film "Gilligan Bond," first produced 15+ years ago.   Maren's favorite part may have been Gwen's performance of Let it Go at the talent show.  Then Summit happened and Leisel was old enough to join this year.  She is a perfect princess because she helps others feel beautiful too.  Jordan had a hike with the young men and Jared initiated a project to pull down the dead poplars in the front yard.  Our ward was finally able to plan a trip to the baptistry at the temple for the first time since covid lockdown.  And then we haven't had another one since then.  Amy held an impromptu party at her house when she got a bounce house from a friend for a day.  Jan and Gordan invited us again for FHE and hot tubbing!
