This year our Clark Family trip had some unexpected changes. We were scheduled to visit the Grand Canyon together and stay in Lake Havasu, but a couple weeks before our vacation Susie took an unexpected helicopter ride to the neurointensive care unit at the U of U. We were all shaken as we watched her recover from a brain hemorrhage. She miraculously progressed from unconscious to talking and moving . And then spent time at home recovering. I was amazed how Teresa, Kim, and Chris supported Susie in the hospital and held up the fort at home. LOTS of other hands stepped in too to cover Susie's responsibilities. The kids spent time with lots of family. Relief Societies, friends, and family members helped. It was such a tricky time for their family to finalize the sale of their home and close the sale of a new home as well, as take care of a 5 week old baby and 4 other kids. But it all worked out! Susie has fully recovered and they are all doing well.
We managed to get away and spend time all together as a family in Bear Lake before the summer ended. It was a great celebration and we made lots of great memories.
We had oodles of kayaks, paddle boards, inflatables, canoes, and a paddle boat. The kids were at a great age for this trip because most of them are independent enough to enjoy going out in the water by themselves and together. Grandpa and Landon even spent some time fishing.
There were endless variations of fun and we clogged up the dock the whole time we stayed at the lake.
Jared loved having lots of use with the kayaks he made.
On our second day, I drove around the lake to the Boy Scout Bear Lake Aquatic Base where Michael was finishing scout camp with our ward's troop. I drove by that spot often about 14 years ago when Jared and I worked at the boys ranch and now I was on my way to pick up my Boy Scout there. Michael was browned from a week of camping and sun and we tried to get him in the water to clean up a bit. He spent several hours on the paddle board cruising around but came back just as smelly. :)
so many cute cousins!
and a beautiful lake!
