School Days

This year we started homeschooling with the kids again.  The schedule is different for each of them.  And we find lots of challenging and engaging material to keep up with.  Amazingly they are happy with the change and seem to be thriving.  Here are some photos of school memories this fall.

Grandma and Grandpa started up a Spanish class twice a week for the Grandkids.

On Thursdays we are apart of a commonwealth school group.  The kids have 2-4 classes to take part in throughout the day.  We love it.  They get to do amazing activities!   

Moses and Hiedi were our visitors to teach about Kenya.

Field trip to Christmas Around the World at BYU 

This is the Shakespeare Fair, Michael's class hosted for our Commonwealth families.  

Tessa was put in the stocks and performed some gladiatorial feats.  

Michael performed a humorous skit in Shakespearean style.

All of the kids performed at the Christmas social.  

Jordan impressed all of us with his skills on the recorder.  

Michael is in the middle back.  He picked up the violin in his beginner Orchestra and performed after 8 weeks.  It was so fun!  

Football, Farms, and Fall Festival

 * Game Day Flags *

Jared helped the boys post the flags and then down for every home game.  There were 30 U of U contracts and 21 BYU.  We really started in July to sign up neighbors and get the flags ready.  The boys learned a lot and were able to make a good deposit in their mission savings fund.    

Jordan played Riverton Flag Football this fall and loved it!  He pulled a lot of flags each game and ran a lot of yards with the ball.  He also loved to play with cousins and friends every chance he got.  

The Allen's took Jordan to a football game at LaVell Edward's Stadium.  

And they went early to hike the Y!

We stopped at Thanksgiving Point Farm on the way home from apple picking in Santaquin with the Maxfields.  Candy was able to glean from the fallen apples in the commercial orchard across the street from her aunts home and our car was brimming full of delicious apples.  We were able to make many batches of applesauce and have apples to eat the whole fall.   

This is the Scarecrow Festival at Thanksgiving Point with Grandma and Grandpa.  There were lots of original creations to walk around and see.  We made apple cider in an original press and did some apple carving.  We enjoyed being outside in the lovely fall weather and surroundings.  

This was our first visit to see the Light of the World sculpture exhibit at the TP Gardens.  I know it will touch many people who visit it.  The whole display follows the life of Christ and it was a surprise and a beautiful finale to have the first vision as the last sculpture.  

Logan Canyon

In early fall we got to spend an afternoon with the Clarks at Second Dam in Logan Canyon.  Everyone had a ride in the kayaks.  And Grandpa threw a fishing line in.  We ate a birthday treat and sang to Tessa and Leisel and Zach.  Logan was our family's first home and we love to go back.  

It was a beautiful day!

Lone Peak/Upper Bell Reservoir

Jared fit in another hike toward Lone Peak with the boys via Bell Canyon this year.

 They loved the two waterfalls and the huge granite boulders. 

They made it within a couple miles of the peak, got home way after dark with achy muscles, and had a great time!

More Summer Fun

Susie made me one of the family quilts from Teresa's growing up picnic quilt.  The kids had fun learning and helping to tie it.

We hiked with the Chapmans up Bell's Canyon.   Jared and Jordan made a raft to float around on.
